The "Suicide Prevention Early Warning System", developed by the HKJC Centre for Suicide Research and Prevention at the University of Hong Kong, has given a warning on March 23, 2022, which indicates that the average of the past 7 days’ estimates for suicide have exceeded the "extremely high" level. Professor Paul YIP Siu-fai, Director of the Centre, will hold a media conference via Zoom today (March 29) to explain the findings from the System, and to identify the high-risk group. Mr. Vincent Ng, Executive Director and Mr. Justin Leung, Program Manager of Suicide Prevention Services will join to share their experience on cases and the problems encountered by elderly people under the pandemic.
